The Boss makes a beer run during concert

By Denise Hazlick

They don't call him The Boss for nothing.

During a stop on the "Wrecking Ball" tour in Philadelphia on Tuesday, Bruce Springsteen, still spry at 62, waded into the crowd?while singing "Raise Your Hand." Part way through the song, the singer announced "I need to sit down" and took a seat, at which point an adoring fan handed him a cup of beer -- that Springsteen downed in the blink of an eye, and then jumped up and continued the song.

You can see it all in the video below.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band perform live in Philadelphia, PA on their Wrecking Ball tour. Bruce enters the left side of the crowd and drinks a fan's beer while continuing to sing Raise Your Hand.

How to Develop Landing Pages For Your Online Real Estate ...

Building successful lead capture pages for your real estate marketing endeavors does not have to be a confusing operation. We?ve discovered that by sticking with a proven strategy, you definitely will begin to bring in hundreds or maybe thousands of high quality leads for your business in a brief amount of time.

Although this method is comprised of 2 primary areas (driving traffic in addition to conversions), we are solely going to focus on the 2nd aspect right now. For this reason, let us begin to investigate the four main steps you should take to produce a profitable squeeze page.

1. First of all, your lead capture page must have a solid and catchy headline in order to acquire your audience?s curiosity and inspire them to evaluate the remainder of your body content. This piece can make or break your real estate marketing efforts from the outset, so you have got to address a core need, problem or desire that your visitors have. A few great initiators for this might be ?How to?? Several Tips to?? and even ?Who else needs?? Consider utilizing red font as well in order to make the heading truly stand out.

2. Second, the left hand side will need to be comprised of some kind of video, audio track, or bullet point content. Our personal favorites happen to be online video and also bullet points. This is the part where you need to present your viewers with benefits and not features. What type of root pains can you solve? Mention these things within your content.

3. Thirdly, on the right hand side of your real estate marketing form, you have to provide some kind of lead capture. Even though this will likely be the easiest step by far, please do not make the mistake of requesting way too many fields for your visitors to fill out. Simply put, less is far better, so we ordinarily propose only asking for their name plus e-mail address in most instances. Your call to action button will need to say something along the lines of ?Get Immediate Access,? ?Download Now,? etc.

4. All three previous aspects depend on this last point. Unless you have something for your audience that provides real cash value, just about all your previous initiatives will likely be squandered. This is certainly not the place where you provide private label rights or some cheap report that folks can easily find just about anywhere. You must go above and beyond to exceed expectations and virtually blow away your audience with free, top quality content.

By simply following these four components, you can easily begin to dominate your local market and also produce fantastic rapport with your future clients. For more ideas, resources as well as specialized coaching, stop by Real Estate Marketing 411.

Hunger Games: Girl On Fire (for iPhone)

Commissioned by Lionsgate Studios, Hunger Games: Girl On Fire (free) is essentially a tie-in app to whet your, ahem, hunger, for the recently released movie. Indie developers led by Adam Saltsman (Canabalt) used simple 2D sprites, an odd choice to me, given the story's majestic, post-apocalyptic setting. For a game with little action, it's surprisingly addictive.

You're placed in the shoes of feisty heroine Katniss Everdeen, with bow and arrow in hand, and on a perpetual run through the forests to return home to her District 12. As she runs, poisonous Tracker Jacker wasps start to hover over her. Tap a wasp to shoot it with an arrow, which is only as easy as your screen is responsive. The more wasps you kill, the more menacing they become, eventually ganging up to fire purple venom balls in your direction?you can only overcome these by jumping between the ground and the treetops. Eventually after collecting a certain number of points from killing Tracker Jackers, you'll face the ultimate enemy, the Capitol hovercraft.

Katniss dies when she's shot twice, which happens more often than you'd expect, and then you have to start over from the beginning. It'd certainly be better if you didn't lose all those points, or if it wasn't so easy to die.

For such a lightweight app, the game's audio is surprisingly intense and tribal in nature. This made more sense to me when I read that the score was composed by famed game composer Danny Baranowsky (of Super Meat Boy fame).

From the main menu, you'll also find one-tap access to more Hunger Games love outside the app. You can tap into Fandango or Movietickets.com, watch the trailer, buy the Hunger Games ringtone, play the Hunger Games Adventures Facebook game, purchase the soundtrack, or visit the movie's official website. The app is also part of Apple's social gaming site, Game Center, where you can compare high scores with members around the world.

Hunger Games: Girl On Fire is a simple, addictive way to waste time on a train ride or in line at the movie theaters. It's too bad it doesn't go beyond two levels, however.

Dear Mr. Chris,

My husband was in an unconscious state and very gradually gained?little conscious after about 8mths and lived for 3 yrs in a semi vegetative state with feeding done?through a peg tube and breathing with a tracheostomy. He finally passed away 3 mths back following a brain seizure.

Home Build ? The Rock ? Keith and Kinsey's Real Estate Update

Home Build ? The?Rock

In our last home build blog, we talked about signing the building contract, and picking out some more finishes. Since then we?ve lined up insurance, had an appraisal, and finalized the construction loan. Of course, we are still trying to plan out the little details in the house, too.
With everything lined up and ready to go, we can now close on the lot and start building. We?ve got a closing scheduled for this coming Monday, and the builder is just waiting for the go head. There?s even a backhoe sitting on our lot already. The builder tells us he will be scraping dirt on Tuesday, surveying on Wednesday, digging on Thursday, and starting on footings by Friday.

The big talk in the neighborhood has been ?The Rock?. Our lot had a huge rock sitting on it that the developer had just left there years ago. We talked about the possibility of keeping it because it seemed like a fun thing for kids to climb on down the road. Although, this rock took up a good chunk of yard space, and it would be nearly impossible to move out between houses later. The developer planned to get rid of it, so we told him to go head. In any case, we came to find out that the rock was kind of a congregating place for the neighborhood kids. We have several friends that live in the neighborhood and have already met a few neighbors.?It seems like every time we talk to someone in the neighborhood they ask ?what?are you going to do with the rock?? ?We kind of feel bad getting rid of a neighborhood landmark, and wondered if it could be moved to the nearby park. However, it turns out the developer has already started to smash it up in order to move it out. Hopefully the neighborhood kids will forgive us.

We are excited to get this property closed and get the construction started!

Traveling with Cats - Pet Hotels of America

Traveling with cats is not like traveling with a dog. Cats can and do get used to car travel if they are comfortable. Prior to making road trips with your cat, there are a few tips that will be helpful.

Tip #1. Make sure your cat is welcome at the hotel where you are planning on staying. Many hotels allow pets and you can find a lot of hotel rooms on sale at Pet Hotels of America. Check out their pet policies. Call a few days in prior to leaving to make sure they are totally prepared for you. Traveling with any animal is different that traveling alone.

Tip #2. Get your cat used to traveling in a carrier in the car. It helps if you put the carrier out in your house prior to travel so your cat can feel comfortable and familiar spending time in it. The same carriers used for dogs are good for cats. Most on the market make it easy to pick up to carry by hand as well as strap into the car?s seat belts.?

Tip #3. Take short trips with your cat in the carrier. This is most important. Every 20 minutes take your cat out of the carrier so she doesn?t feel trapped. Once your cat realizes she will eventually be out of the carrier, she will feel more comfortable. Make it fun for her, offering treats and lots of petting.

Tip #5. Make sure your cat?s shots are up to date. You don?t want to expose your cat to more risks than necessary. While at the veterinarian?s office, check to see if your cat may benefit from a mild tranquilizer. Some cats are more anxious about traveling than others. If you do use one, it may only be a matter of time before

Tip #6. Bring your vaccination records. Keep them handy. Also keep photos of your cat on hand should you become separated.

Tip #7. Equip your cat with a good harness with attached identification tags. Include your name, address, mobile number, home phone and veterinarian contact information. The leash with harness allows you to let your cat get out and stretch without worries. Practice many times walking with your cat on a leash before you take off. The key to success when traveling with cats is making sure they feel comfortable in all aspects of your travels.

Tip #8. Leave your itinerary with your veterinarian in case they should receive a call that your cat was found in case of separation. Microchipping are a huge plus when traveling with cats especially.

Tip #9. Use an approved pet carrier. Cats should never wander freely when inside a moving vehicle. Frightened cats tend to head straight for the foot pedals. Plus a cat will feel much more comfortable with her own carrier and blanket. Make sure to throw in her favorite?toy.

Tip 10. Bring your cat?s regular food. A thermos filled with ice cubes is beneficial for your cat in warm weather. Pack separate dishes for water and food. Remember to bring a litter pan, litter and scooper as well as disposal bags.

Tip 11. Many travel supply websites offer warm and cooling travel beds. If your are visiting somewhere with extreme temperatures you may want to purchase one of these. Traveling Pet Supplies has these heated and cooling beds at very reasonable prices.

Tip 12. Bring a small portable water and food carrier. There are many on the market and it will come in handy when you are out and about.
There is a lot of information on previous blogs. Read through them. Please share any experiences you have had when traveling with cats or suggestions you may offer to make pet travel easier. We would love to hear from you.Tip 13. Bring a fold-up stroller for when you want to sightsee. You will be so thankful you did.

Santorum wins Louisiana, flexing Southern muscle

NEW ORLEANS (Reuters) - Rick Santorum won the Louisiana Republican presidential primary on Saturday, adding an 11th state to his total but still trailing Mitt Romney by a wide margin in the national delegate count toward the party nomination.

Santorum had strong support in all income groups except for the very wealthy, and solid backing from conservative and religious voters in the Deep South state.

"The people of Louisiana sent a loud and clear message - this race is far from over," Santorum said in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where he watched the election results after making a series of campaign stops.

Romney, a former Massachusetts governor, was projected to finish second. Former House of Representatives Speaker Newt Gingrich was third - a result that is likely to amplify calls for him to drop out - with Texas congressman Ron Paul fourth.

Santorum, a socially conservative former U.S. senator from Pennsylvania, has done well in the Deep South, winning Mississippi and Alabama earlier this month. In all, Santorum has won seven state contests in March.

Saturday's primary allocated only 20 of Louisiana's 46 total Republican delegates as candidates spar for the right to take on Democratic President Barack Obama in the November general election. The rest of the delegates will be allocated at the state party convention in June.

With 75 percent of the precincts reporting, Santorum had 49 percent of the vote, Romney 26 percent and Gingrich 16 percent. If those totals hold, Santorum and Romney would both gain delegates from Louisiana, with Gingrich shut out.

Exit polls showed that 47 percent of Republican primary voters identified themselves as "very conservative," and of those Santorum beat Romney by 52 percent to 24 percent.

Santorum also won majorities among voters calling themselves "somewhat conservative" or "moderate," and those who said that religion matters a lot in public life.

A Republican candidate needs 1,144 delegates to secure the party's nomination. CNN's current delegate count puts Romney well ahead, with 563 delegates to Santorum's 259.

VOTER TURNOUT LOW

Exit polls showed voters in Louisiana, which has a relatively low 6.9 percent unemployment rate but also low median income, were most concerned about the economy and the budget deficit.

The state has been hammered economically in the past decade, first by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and then by the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

Still, Santorum found backing from the state's many Christian evangelicals. Louisiana also has a large block of Roman Catholic voters who, as a group, are regarded as more conservative than Catholics in many other states.

"He's a Christian man. I like many of the things he says, about gasoline prices, and healthcare. He's for everything I'm for," said Ronald Moore, 78, a retired commercial contractor from Monroe.

Voter turnout at many precincts was low, according to election officials, even though state Republican leaders had hoped that having the nomination still in the balance would boost turnout.

All four remaining Republican candidates visited Louisiana in the days leading up to the vote.

Gingrich spent a week here, crisscrossing the state from Shreveport in the northwest to Port Fourchon on the Gulf of Mexico. Despite his lowly finish, Gingrich has so far rejected calls to drop out as he attempts to plays the role of spoiler to Romney's presidential ambitions.

The next showdown in the Republican nominating contest will be in Wisconsin on April 3. Maryland and the District of Columbia also vote that day.

Santorum has pledged to stay in the race until the party's convention in August, and is likely to take heart from results in March, a month when he has won seven state contests despite failing to chip away at Romney's delegate lead.

For Romney, Louisiana's results suggest that he continues to struggle with the most conservative element of the Republican Party, some of whom distrust his Mormon religion and history of changing positions on social issues.

"Mitt Romney would be really good at creating jobs, but the pro-life issue is one of my main things," said Cheryl Stephens, 56, of Monroe.

Exit polls showed that a now-infamous comment this week by a Romney aide, that the election could be reset like an Etch-A-Sketch after the primaries, might have given Santorum a late lift. Santorum and Gingrich made frequent campaign appearances brandishing the popular toy, and chiding Romney for what they said were his inconsistent positions.

Nineteen percent of voters said the comment was "important" to their vote, and of those, 60 percent went for Santorum.

Troubled by reports of the practice of employers asking for Facebook passwords during job interviews, Democratic Sens. Chuck Schumer of New York, left, and Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut said they are calling on the Department of Justice and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to launch investigations. SEATTLE (AP) ? Two U.S. senators are asking Attorney General Eric Holder to investigate whether employers asking for Facebook passwords during job interviews are violating federal law, their offices announced Sunday.

Troubled by reports of the practice, Democratic Sens. Chuck Schumer of New York and Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut said they are calling on the Department of Justice and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to launch investigations. The senators are sending letters to the heads of the agencies.

The Associated Press reported last week that some private and public agencies around the country are asking job seekers for their social media credentials. The practice has alarmed privacy advocates, but the legality of it remains murky.

On Friday, Facebook warned employers not to ask job applicants for their passwords to the site so they can poke around on their profiles. The company threatened legal action against applications that violate its long-standing policy against sharing passwords.

A Facebook executive cautioned that if an employer discovers that a job applicant is a member of a protected group, the employer may be vulnerable to claims of discrimination if it doesn't hire that person.

Personal information such as gender, race, religion and age are often displayed on a Facebook profile ? all details that are protected by federal employment law.

"We don't think employers should be asking prospective employees to provide their passwords because we don't think it's the right thing to do. While we do not have any immediate plans to take legal action against any specific employers, we look forward to engaging with policy makers and other stakeholders, to help better safeguard the privacy of our users," Facebook said in a statement.

Not sharing passwords is a basic tenet of online conduct. Aside from the privacy concerns, Facebook considers the practice a security risk.

"In an age where more and more of our personal information ? and our private social interactions ? are online, it is vital that all individuals be allowed to determine for themselves what personal information they want to make public and protect personal information from their would-be employers. This is especially important during the job-seeking process, when all the power is on one side of the fence," Schumer said in a statement.

Specifically, the senators want to know if this practice violates the Stored Communications Act or the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. Those two acts, respectively, prohibit intentional access to electronic information without authorization and intentional access to a computer without authorization to obtain information.

The senators also want to know whether two court cases relating to supervisors asking current employees for social media credentials could be applied to job applicants.

"I think it's going to take some years for courts to decide whether Americans in the digital age have the same privacy rights" as previous generations, American Civil Liberties Union attorney Catherine Crump said in a previous interview with the AP.

The senators also said they are drafting a bill to fill in any gaps that current laws don't cover.

Maryland and Illinois are considering bills that would bar public agencies for asking for this information.

In California, Democratic Sen. Leland Yee introduced a bill that would prohibit employers from asking current employees or job applicants for their social media user names or passwords. That state measure also would bar employers from requiring access to employees' and applicants' social media content, to prevent employers from requiring logins or printouts of that content for their review.

4moms mamaRoo Plush Review | The Shopping Mama

I?ve blogged about it, admired it in person and even included it in our Baby Shopping Guide and now with the arrival of baby Max I finally get to welcome the 4moms mamaRoo into our home for a proper review. And not only does Max get to enjoy the mamaRoo but one of your little one?s will, too, because we?re giving one away!

4moms mamaRoo Review

We?ve been using the mamaRoo since the day Max came home from the hospital. I have to credit my husband with that, really. His idea was to put the baby in the seat even when he was content to get him used to the motions so that he?ll be familiar with it when we need to place him there to soothe him or just because we need an extra hand. Max has probably been in the mamaRoo at least once a day since his first bounce and sway. Now it does not always make or keep him 100 percent happy, but it?s been a great option for all of us.

Unique Motions.?There are five motions and varying speeds so you can find the best motion to soothe or entertain your baby. Faster speeds are good to stimulate while slower speeds are better for calming baby. So far we?ve kept Max bopping right around the middle speed level. Here?s a video where you can see the way the mamaRoo truly ?moves like you do.? Only better.

The controls for the mamaRoo are on the base of the seat which, I?ve discovered, is very convenient. I can turn the mamaRoo on or off with my foot while holding the baby. Like the entire machine, the controls are very simple and straightforward while being modern and innovative.

Recline and Relax. The mamaRoo can recline to any position on its unique curved axis. We currently have the seat positioned nearly flat so Max is laying down. As he gets older we?ll move him more upright but for now (with no head control and all) it makes sense for him to be reclined.

When he?s older and sitting more upright, Max will also enjoy the three toys that hang above the seat. One side of the removable plush balls has black and white art and the other features colorful monsters. (The monsters fabrics, by the way, match the 4moms Reversible Infant Insert that you can use on the mamaRoo or other swings and seats.)

Plush. The mamaRoo Plush is an upgraded version of the original mamaRoo with a much softer fabric. The material is definitely an improvement over the original fabric and provide a very comfortable place for Max to relax. (If you have an original mamaRoo, you can ?upgrade? it for use with another baby by using the Infant Insert which is also made of the Plush fabric.) So far we?ve gotten lucky and haven?t had any blow outs or diaper leaks on the mamaRoo, but if we did there?s no reason to worry. The seat unzips and can be cleaned in the washing machine.

Music and Noise. We haven?t experimented much with the white noise element of the mamaRoo yet, but there are five nature sounds to add to the experience for baby. If you want a little something different or more rockin?, the mamaRoo comes with an adapter to connect your MP3 player.

To Buy or Not to Buy

To Buy? The mamaRoo comes complete with a lot of hype and so far it has lived up to our expectations. It truly is a great seat for Max that keeps him content and occupied, and it?s great for me because it?s a safe place for him when he needs a little sway action and I can?t carry or wear him. The Plush fabric is super comfortable and soft that makes me wish the mamaRoo came in my size.

Or Not to Buy? No doubt the mamaRoo is more expensive than the average baby swing. We have never had much luck with other baby swings, though, so for our money and experience this seems worth the investment.

Shop! The 4moms mamaRoo is $199 for the original seat and $239 for the Plush version. The mamaRoo is available directly from 4moms?(including discount refurbished seats) and from our affiliates Magic Beans and Amazon.

?Rage-filled? McClintic took Tori Stafford as collateral for a drug debt: Rafferty defence

Mar 23, 2012 ? 3:52 PM ET | Last Updated: Mar 23, 2012 3:55 PM ET

By Linda Nguyen

Warning: story contains graphic content

LONDON, Ont. ? The idea to kidnap and kill eight-year-old Victoria (Tori) Stafford was planned by a rage-filled, violent woman who took the girl as collateral for a drug debt, the defence in Michael Rafferty?s murder trial told court on Friday.

It was Terri-Lynne McClintic who lured the little girl, then went into a Home Depot to purchase garbage bags and a hammer and ultimately used the weapon to smash in the Grade 3 student?s skull, alleges lawyer Dirk Derstine.

?I?m going to suggest that the abduction in this case was your idea, that you went and lured her in the car . . and Michael thought nothing of it,? he said on McClintic?s last day of cross-examination.

She even offered the girl sexually to Rafferty, and when he refused ?your gift,? she told him to walk away from the car. When he returned, she had killed Tori all on her own, accused Derstine.

?I will suggest that Rafferty came back after the death and was horrified but helped you clean up.?

On the witness stand McClintic refuted the theory that Rafferty was not the ?driving force? behind the murder.

?I very much disagree with you,? she responds firmly.

Handout photo: Stafford family

Tori Stafford?s remains were found in July 2009 in a rural field in Mount Forest, Ont., more than 200 kilometres away from where she was last seen

McClintic told the court she could not make herself believe all these horrible things were going to happen to the little girl. Last week, she testified Rafferty had repeatedly raped Stafford while she stood motionless a distance away.

?In my mind, I believed that I was not going to let anything bad happen. I thought that I would protect her,? she said teafully. ?Just that I wouldn?t let anything happen.?

McClintic, 21, is serving a life sentence after she pleaded guilty two years ago to first-degree murder in Stafford?s death.

Rafferty, 31, has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder, kidnapping and sexual assault causing bodily harm.

Stafford was last seen on April 8, 2009, outside her elementary school in Woodstock, Ont., a small city west of Toronto. Her remains were found three months later in a rural field near Mount Forest, Ont., about two hours away from where she was last seen.

McClintic, who is Rafferty?s ex-lover and the Crown?s star witness, has been testifying at the high-profile trial for the past two weeks.

Wearing a grey sweater and a black-and-white top and sporting glasses, McClintic admitted on the stand that she recently told her godmother, during a prison visit, that she felt little remorse for killing the young girl.

?(You said) that you were only sad about the killing, that it was a little kid ? otherwise you could it again?? pressed Derstine.

After a lengthy pause, McClintic replied: ?Yes? softly.

Handout photo: Facebook

Michael Rafferty has been in custody since he was arrested in 2009.

She also admitted that as a child, she had microwaved a small dog until it screamed.

?Nobody believed that you had done that. You cooked up a story that the dog had been hurt by neighbourhood dogs and it had to be put down. Right? That was the story everyone seemed to believe, Ms. McClintic??

After another long pause, she replied: ?I was a child.?

?Because nobody believed you could be so cruel to such an innocent?? pressed Derstine. ?I was a child. I didn?t know what I was doing,? she responds, crying.

For the past three days, the defence has been trying to paint a picture of McClintic as an angry young woman who had been in and out of jail for her whole life and often resorted to random acts of violence.

Her criminal record consisted mostly of assault charges, including two incidents, which resulted in her mother suffering a fractured cheek and partial loss of sight in one eye

McClintic maintains she had changed long before Tori?s murder.

On Friday, the 12-person jury saw excerpts of a journal she started days after she was arrested for the death of the little girl. The pages were filled with gang signs and angry entries about beating up people.

She admitted on the stand she got into a fight in late January where she kicked and stomped a woman while she was on the ground in a fetal position.

Court also heard a number of songs Friday by one of McClintic?s favourite rap artists, Necro.

One of them, titled Dead Body Disposal described killing someone, double bagging their bodies and dividing it into different trash cans ? details that were similar to what she said she and Rafferty did with Tori?s body.

The jury also heard from Ontario Provincial Police Det. Colin Darmon Friday who testified about the investigators? first interview with Rafferty in mid-May.

In an audio recording of the meeting at Rafferty?s house in Woodstock, he admitted he knew McClintic and another woman whose daughter had been best friends with Tori.

Other than, he didn?t know many people in the town.

?The people in here are pretty scary,? Rafferty told Darmon.

Global box office up 3 pct to $32.6 billion

(AP) ? Ticket sales for movies shown around the globe rose 3 percent in 2011 to $32.6 billion, thanks largely to growth in booming markets like China. U.S. and Canadian sales fell.

Theatrical revenue from the U.S. and Canada dropped 4 percent to $10.2 billion as attendance fell. Revenue from 3-D movies also decreased compared with 2010, when the release of "Avatar" gave 3-D box office a big boost.

International ticket sales rose 7 percent to $22.4 billion.

Sales in China grew 35 percent to $2 billion, which put the nation behind Japan as the second largest market for movies outside the U.S. and Canada.

(AP Photo/Kevin Frayer, File)

(AP) ? India's scandal-plagued government lost hundreds of billions of dollars by selling coalfields to companies without competitive bidding, according to a leaked audit report that the auditor itself called misleading.

Angry lawmakers blocked proceedings in Parliament on Thursday after the findings by India's Comptroller and Auditor General were printed by The Times of India newspaper.

Outraged opposition party leaders demanded an explanation from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of why about 155 coalfields were sold to select private and state-run companies without competitive bidding, resulting in an estimated loss of nearly $210 billion.

"The coal scam is very serious. It's more serious than the 2G spectrum scam," said Prakash Javadekar, a spokesman of the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party.

The Comptroller and Auditor General criticized the furor as premature, noting in a letter to Singh that the leaked draft "did not even constitute our pre-final draft and are exceedingly misleading."

The letter, released Tuesday afternoon by Singh's office, cast the report's details as preliminary observances and said recent Coal Ministry clarifications "have changed our thinking." It said the auditors have not concluded that the coalfield buyers' gains were equal to any losses in the government treasury.

"The leak of the initial draft causes great embarrassment as the audit report is still under preparation. Such leakage causes very deep anguish," the auditor said in the letter.

Singh's government has been embarrassed repeatedly as senior ministers and officials faced corruption charges stemming from the hosting of the 2010 Commonwealth Games and the sale of cellphone spectrum ? also without competitive bidding ? that auditors said lost the country billions of dollars.

The auditors' draft report said the allocation of the coalfields between 2004 and 2009 had resulted in windfall gains of $97 billion for private companies.

Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal refused to respond to the leaked report. He said the government had followed a "transparent" policy of advertising for the allocation of the coal blocks.

He said state governments were consulted and all responses to the advertisements were screened by a committee before they were sold.

Opposition parties accused the government of causing massive losses to the country by not holding auctions and instead following an arbitrary policy of rewarding certain companies.

"Such enormous largesse showered on profit-making private companies is nothing but a huge scam," said Sitaram Yechury of the Communist Party of India (Marxist).

"It is disturbing that these coal blocks were allocated at a time when the prime minister was in charge of the coal ministry," he said.

Coal, being a natural resource, cannot be gifted to private corporations at throwaway prices, opposition lawmakers said.

"This is a government of scams," said Gurudas Dasgupta, another lawmaker, who demanded that government recover the losses from the companies.

The state auditor's report comes a year after the government was embroiled in a similar scandal over the sale of cellular operating licenses under a "first-come, first-serve" process that netted the government 124 billion rupees ($2.7 billion).

Some licenses were awarded to ineligible participants who in turn sold their stakes at much higher prices than they bought them from the government.

The CAG reported that the 2008 sale of cellular operating licenses resulted in losses of nearly $36 billion in potential government revenue.

The Numbers Behind the Copyright Math

So, claims are regularly made suggesting that the music industry is failing, usually followed by claims that tougher laws are needed to protect the hard working people in the music industry.

Small problem - it's not true.

The music industry is not in as bad a situation as claims would suggest. Here are some interesting statistics:

Music publishing revenues are on an upward trend.
Worldwide Music Publishing Revenues (2006 - 2011)
http://grabstats.com/statmain.asp?StatID=69 [grabstats.com]
$8.0 billion (2006)
$8.3 billion (2007)
$8.6 billion (2008)
$8.9 billion (2009)
$9.1 billion (2010)
$9.4 billion (2011)

Live music (concert) revenues are on a upward trend.
Worldwide Live Music / Concert Revenues (2006 - 2011)
http://grabstats.com/statmain.asp?StatID=70 [grabstats.com]
$16.6 billion (2006)
$18.1 billion (2007)
$19.4 billion (2008)
$20.8 billion (2009)
$22.2 billion (2010)
$23.5 billion (2011)

The entire industry's revenues (*) are on an upward trend.
Worldwide Music Industry Revenues (2006 - 2011)
http://grabstats.com/statmain.asp?StatID=67 [grabstats.com]
2006 ($60.7 billion)
2007 ($61.5 billion)
2008 ($62.6 billion)
2009 ($65.0 billion)
2010 ($66.4 billion)
2011 ($67.6 billion)

* The "entire industry" is defined as "Revenues are for record labels, music publishers, recording artists, performing artists, composers, concert venues and merchandise, companies; includes revenues from sales of physical recordings, digital music services (online and mobile), music publishing and live music."

What is most interesting about these numbers is it supports what I have felt for a long time - the major players in the music industry have realized that CD sales are nice but that's not how to get rich - the big money (almost 2.5 times the money...) is in concerts. That is why acts like 'N Sync and Britney and Beiber and U2 and Lady Gaga and damn near everyone are regularly on tour. They've realized that people are spending more and more on actually going to the concert to experience the music. They realized that the be financially successful means touring a lot. CD sales makes one wealthy but a concert tout makes one rich.

These numbers show that the music industry isn't failing. It isn't even shrinking. The _industry_ is growing, across the board. Yes, there are individual companies that might be suffering and there are individual bands that are suffering and there are probably specific geographic regions that are suffering but the industry, as a whole, is thriving - it is growing.

One thing I do agree with the music industry, however, is that the internet is a big reason for this - we just disagree on the direction their profits are headed...

Mysterious booms rattle residents of Wisconsin town

Mysterious noises and ground vibrations are unnerving residents in Clintonville, Wis. WGBA-TV's Brian Miller reports.

By Elizabeth Chuck, msnbc.com

What goes "boom" in the night? The exhausted residents of Clintonville, Wis., wish they knew.

Since Sunday evening, mysterious?sounds have been jolting the city awake, and no one can explain where they're coming from.

"People describe them as booming, thunder-like noises -- vibrating, shaking," Lisa Kuss, Clintonville city administrator, told msnbc.com. "The most extreme one I experienced was at 10 p.m. Monday night in our utilities room, and it was a bam."

That night, city officials received nearly 100 calls about the unexplained shaking. Alarmed, city officials tested gas levels, investigated sewer systems and landfills, and checked on?city dams.?Everything came back normal.?

"People are, number one, somewhat scared," Kuss?said. "But as time passes, they're more frustrated than scared; there are a few that have left. They say, 'We need to get some sleep.' They're frustrated it's elevated at night."

On Sunday night, the booms happened at around 8 p.m., 10 p.m., midnight, 1 a.m., and 2 a.m., according to a press release from the city. They came back again Monday night, and after a brief reprieve overnight Tuesday, they returned early Wednesday.?

The city's 4,600 residents have been invited?to a meeting Wednesday night at the high school to discuss the situation, even though there isn't much news to tell them.

"The only thing we can really conclude is a lot of things it isn't," Kuss said. "It doesn't seem to be related to our systems. It's not the military. It's not a mining pit that's being blown up. We've never had any earthquakes; we've had a couple of people tell us we're on a fault line, but we have no way to confirm that."

A professor's?theory: Groundwater
According to Steve Dutch, a professor of geoscience at University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Clintonville doesn't lie on a fault line.

"The USGS is not picking up any earthquakes in Wisconsin. These appear to be purely local events. People 50 feet away don't feel anything," he said.

But he has another idea.

"After thinking about it, I would start looking at the movement of groundwater," Dutch told msnbc.com. "If some of that water is being removed, from pumping, maybe, the rocks are settling a bit, and that's producing some of these sounds."

Groundwater is precipitation that has seeped through soil and is stored in rocks. Dutch theorizes that the city utlity might be pumping water at night, causing shifts and vibrations, and explaining why the booms are more frequent when people are trying to sleep.

"It might have to do with water usage, water flowing back at night, causing the noises. Or maybe pumping rates are cheaper at night," he said.

Further supporting his theory is the type of rock beneath Clintonville: sandstone.

"People have suggested sinkholes [are causing the noises]," Dutch said. "That's pretty unlikely because the rocks under Clintonville are not limestones or soluble rocks that would produce sinkholes."

Dutch, who has a Ph.D. in structural geology, said he's never heard of anything like Clintonville's booms.

"I'll get a call from somebody who heard a boom at their house, and I just have to say, 'I can't really tell ya,' but not on this scale," he said.?"Sometimes in science, we don't really know."

On discussion boards and on YouTube, commenters have proposed everything from meth labs?to the construction of?a complex?underground shelter network?as the source.

Top Internet Business Ideas about Affiliate ... - Rss Feed Converter

If you are planning to compile some online business ideas that are related to affiliate marketing, do not bother to include those that seem too good to be true and those that have already been proven as a scam or a fraud. Choose online services by credible companies and brands that you can market in various digital channels. Here are some basic considerations and ideas that you should keep in mind.

To succeed in your affiliate marketing endeavor, you should not start it unless you have gathered relevant information and judgment about the client?s online services. After which, you can think of various ways in which you can promote the client?s brand or company in your own domains and subdomains. Partner yourself with a client that has already gained a good ground online so that you know you can easily attract visitors or customers and ear a reasonable and satisfying commissions.

However, you are not discouraged to partner with small businesses online because they are also willing to pay for whatever affiliate marketing services you can render for them. To succeed here, you must extend enough trust and confidence with them as good business partners.

Another important idea to consider is the marketing commission built around the lifestyle design of affiliate marketing that you are doing for them. The standard commission rate is within 15% to 20%. Calculate your expected revenues and compare them with the actual fees received.

It is also important to focus on recruiting fellow affiliates as this may also give you another commission and serve as your base when you engage in link building for an SEO-rich affiliate marketing in your domains and subdomains. Negotiate well on various details before you say yes or no to your client.

You also have to do a market research on the industry in which you are catering your affiliate marketing services. Through this, you will know how to start and pursue your marketing campaigns. By comparing your services to other affiliates of the same client, you will know which marketing strategies you should develop or disregard.

(AP) ? Step aside, VCU. Enjoy your memories, Butler. Ohio's ready to become the latest mid-major darling of March Madness.

Walter Offutt scored 21 points, D.J. Cooper had 19 and No. 13 seed Ohio beat South Florida 62-56 on Sunday night to advance to the Midwest Regional semifinals.

"This is amazing," said Offutt, a transfer from Ohio State by way of Wright State. "It's one thing to talk about it and one thing to actually do it. This has been unreal, but let's just continue the run."

Ohio is the seventh team seeded No. 13 or higher to advance to the regional semifinals and the first since No. 13 Bradley did it in 2006. None of those teams won its next game.

The Bobcats (29-7), who opened the tournament with an upset against fourth-seeded Michigan, will play No. 1 seed North Carolina in St. Louis on Friday in their first trip to the round of 16 since they lost to the Wolverines in the regional finals in 1964.

Ohio trailed by two when Offutt swished a 3-pointer, launching a 10-0 run for the Bobcats. A pair of free throws by Cooper made it 54-46 with 3:28 left.

The Bobcats had a 59-53 lead when Toarlyn Fitzpatrick connected for South Florida's first 3-pointer of the half. But Cooper went 3 for 4 from the line while the Bulls missed three shots in the final 36 seconds.

"I do think our guys have a chip on their shoulder," said Ohio coach John Groce, who has led the Bobcats to two NCAA tournaments in his four seasons with the team. "I think our guys look forward to playing on the big stage against quality competition."

Victor Rudd Jr. and Anthony Collins scored 13 points apiece and Augustus Gilchrist had 12 for the Bulls (22-14), who were playing in their third game in five days with a travel day in between. South Florida beat California on Wednesday and Temple on Friday night in the second round.

If fatigue was a concern for South Florida, it didn't show. The Bulls relied on their stingy defense to limit Ohio to just 30.4 percent shooting in the first half.

Although the Bulls managed to keep the Bobcats away from the rim, they couldn't stop them at the perimeter. Half of Ohio's second-half buckets were 3s, and the Bobcats finished 9 of 18 from long range.

"It really seemed like they hadn't missed any 3s in the second half," Collins said. "We just didn't execute our defensive assignments the right way. They got open and made the shots."

Two of their five treys in the second half came after either a flagrant or technical foul.

Rudd was called for the flagrant, and Offutt hit both of his free throws and a 3-pointer that tied it at 31 with 15:52 to play.

Jawanza Poland was given the technical after hanging on the rim following a dunk. Nick Kellogg sank both free throws and a 3-pointer that again tied the game, this time at 42 with 9:23 to play.

Just over 2 minutes later, the Bobcats put together the 10-0 run that gave them the lead and control, and the Bulls missed out on a shot at being the only team from the first four games to advance to the Sweet 16.

"It wasn't like we didn't play," South Florida coach Stan Heath said. "We lost to a good basketball team."

The Big East's top scoring defensive team and the Mid-American Conference tournament champions turned out to be a good match for one another.

Strong defense from both sides turned the first half into a slow-paced affair. South Florida managed just 40.7 percent shooting in the first 20 minutes.

The Bobcats had the hot hand first. D.J. Cooper sank a 3-pointer, Reggie Keely hit a pair of free throws and a steal by T.J. Hall led to a layup by Cooper that gave Ohio a 12-6 lead 6 minutes into the game.

Victor Rudd Jr. answered with a resounding alley-oop dunk on a pass from Anthony Collins that launched a 13-1 run by the Bulls. A 3-pointer by Rudd gave them a 19-13 lead with 5:31 in the first half, and South Florida held a 27-21 lead at halftime.

Ohio stayed in the game with its perimeter shooting, going 4 for 10 from long range in the first half, while South Florida relied on its size. The Bulls outscored the Bobcats 16-6 in the paint in the first half.

"We didn't do anything differently (in the second half)," Offutt said. "Coach told us to come out and swing aggressively from the start. We went out there and played aggressively and hit some shots. We were fortunate to beat a tough team at the end and got the win."

(AP) ? Kuwait Airways, the Gulf state's national carrier, canceled flights for a second day in a row Sunday as it scrambled to cope with a strike by workers.

The action by Kuwait Airways employees follows a work stoppage by customs officials that began last week and is blocking truckloads of goods from entering the country. Workers are demanding higher pay and other benefits.

Kuwaitis are used to well-paying government jobs and a cradle-to-grave social security system that is increasingly becoming a burden on the state. Calls for better working terms have grown louder as the past year's Arab Spring uprisings reverberated across the region.

Kuwait Airways grounded its flights starting Saturday evening and extending into Sunday, according to airline spokesman Adel Boresly.

They affect incoming and outgoing flights on nearly two dozen routes including to regional hubs Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and Doha, Qatar, as well as Western destinations such as New York and Frankfurt, Germany. It is unclear when flights will resume.

"We are evaluating the situation (until) the strike is off," Boresly said.

Kuwait Airways operates a fleet of 17 jetliners and focuses mainly on flying to Middle Eastern, European and Asian destinations. It has struggled financially for years, in contrast to the turbocharged growth of regional rivals such as Dubai's Emirates.

Meanwhile, store shelves at some supermarkets are running empty as striking customs workers, who began walking off the job Tuesday, refuse to allow hundreds of trucks to cross the border.

That is prompting merchants to hike prices, with the cost of some goods such as dairy products, detergents and diapers rising significantly.

Oil exports do not appear to be affected by the customs strike.

Marzouq Awwad, secretary of the customs workers' union, vowed to continue the job walkoff until its members' demands are met. He said workers have allowed 97 trucks carrying perishable items such as fresh fruits, vegetables and dairy products to cross the border since the strike began.

"The union is not at war with the citizens, and is only on strike until the government and union reach an agreement," he said.

Power plant employees and university professors are also threatening to walk off the job unless they too get increased pay and retirement benefits.

Members of Kuwait's Cabinet are in talks with labor leaders to try to resolve the dispute. Finance Minister Mustafa al-Shamali has repeatedly said the country's budget is strained, and cannot afford the pay increases of as much as 40 percent that unions are calling for.

Thousands of customs workers and other civil servants launched a similar wave of labor unrest in September and October that temporarily disrupted shipping traffic and threatened the country's vital oil exports. Like in the latest strike, they were joined by Kuwait Airways workers.

Kuwait is OPEC's fourth largest oil exporter, and it relies on revenue from crude sales to cover the bulk of its budget.

Kuwaiti authorities have faced sporadic protests in recent months, though they have not been as big as the major pro-reform demonstrations seen elsewhere in the Arab World.

The small nation's parliament has the most powers of any elected body in the Gulf, and opposition lawmakers openly criticize the ruling family.

In January last year, Kuwait's emir, Sheik Sabah Al Ahmed Al Sabah, ordered 1,000 dinar ($3,559) grants and free food coupons for every Kuwaiti. Neighboring countries such as Saudi Arabia and Qatar followed with handouts of their own as they sought to dampen calls for political reform.
