A Nebraska college student is one of nine people nationwide chosen for a nine-day journalism trip to Japan.
The Scripps Howard Foundation recently announced that Alisha Forbes was chosen for the expenses-paid trip that begins on June
15.
Forbes is a sophomore at Doane College who is from Palmer, Neb.
Forbes has worked for the campus newspaper, television newscast and radio station during her time in college.
Forbes and the other winners of the foundation's collegiate
reporting competition will travel with Indiana University's Bradley
Hamm, who has extensive experience in Asia.
The trip will include a visit to Hiroshima, which was devastated by an atomic bomb during World War II. The students will also learn
about Japanese media and culture.
